12	20		AN ACT REQUIRING AN ACTION PLAN FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF
13	21		CONNECTICUT TO BECOME A MEMBER OF AN ASSOCIATION OF
14	22		RESEARCH UNIVERSITIES.
15	23		Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
16	24		Assembly convened:

18	26		Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2025) The University of Connecticut shall 1
19		-	develop an action plan to increase the likelihood of receiving an 2
20		-	invitation to become a member of an association of research universities 3
21		-	in the United States. Such action plan shall include, but need not be 4
22		-	limited to, specifications for (1) the metrics that said university will 5
23		-	track, the time frame and resources required to meet such metrics and 6
24		-	the state-wide economic impact of such membership, and (2) any 7
25		-	recommendations for legislation to assist said university in meeting 8
26		-	such metrics and to support such membership, if granted. Not later than 9
27		-	January 1, 2026, The University of Connecticut shall submit, in 10
28		-	accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, 11
29		-	such action plan to the joint standing committee of the General 12
30		-	Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to higher education 13
31		-	and employment advancement. 14
