1919 AN ACT CONCERNING THE ORDER OF GUBERNATORIAL
2020 SUCCESSION UNDER CERTAIN PERMANENT AND TEMPORARY

2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2525 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2025) (a) In case of the death, 1
2626 resignation, refusal to serve or removal from office of the Governor and: 2
2727 (1) There is a vacancy in the office of Lieutenant Governor such that 3
2828 no person is able to succeed to the office of Governor in accordance with 4
2929 subsection a. of article twenty-second of the amendments to the 5
3030 Constitution of the state, and there is a vacancy in the office of president 6
3131 pro tempore of the Senate such that no person is able to succeed to the 7
3232 office of Lieutenant Governor in accordance with section 19 of article 8
3333 fourth of the Constitution of the state, the speaker of the House of 9
3434 Representatives shall, upon taking the oath of office of Governor, be 10
3535 Governor of the state until another is chosen at the next regular election 11
3636 for Governor and is duly qualified; 12
