AN ACT PROTECTING A PARENT'S RIGHTS TO OPT THEIR 
CHILDREN OUT OF EDUCATION COURSES OR CLASSES PROVIDED 
BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That title 10 of the general statutes be amended to require a local or 1 
regional board of education to provide an option for parents to 2 
withdraw their child from attending or participating in any course or 3 
class, without cause or explanation, unless such course or class is 4 
required under the general statutes. 5 
Statement of Purpose:   
To allow parents to meaningfully participate in the education process 
by ensuring that parents remain the ultimate authority in what their 
children are being taught in school.
