1818 AN ACT ESTABLISHING A LOAN FORGIVENESS PROGRAM FOR
1919 HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK IN A RURAL OR
2020 OTHER UNDERSERVED AREA OR IN A FIELD WITH A WORKFORCE

2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2323 Assembly convened:

2525 That the general statutes be amended to establish a loan forgiveness 1
2626 program that forgives up to fifty thousand dollars of graduate school 2
2727 loans for health care professionals who (1) are not participating in 3
2828 another state or federal loan forgiveness or loan reimbursement 4
2929 program, (2) obtain and maintain licensure as a health care professional 5
3030 by the Department of Public Health, and (3) agree to work in the state 6
3131 for a minimum of four years of full-time work or a minimum of eight 7
3232 years of part-time work as a health care professional in a rural or other 8
3333 underserved area or in a health care field with a workforce shortage. 9
3434 Statement of Purpose:
3535 To address the shortage of health care professionals in the state.
