AN ACT CONCERNING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SCHOOL VOUCHER PROGRAMS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 164 of the general statutes be amended to authorize a 1 local or regional board of education to establish a school voucher 2 program that distributes vouchers to the parents and guardians of 3 students under the jurisdiction of such board for the purpose of 4 allowing such students to attend any public school in the state. 5 Statement of Purpose: To remove any prohibitions against a board of education establishing a program that distributes funds that follow an individual student and gives parents the freedom to choose the appropriate school for their children, and to create more opportunities for school choice in the state while not creating any additional mandates on students or their parents to participate in any public school system and not interfering with parents' right to homeschool their children.
