AN ACT ELIMINATING THE EXEMPTION OF PUBLIC EMPLOYEES FROM PARTICIPATION IN THE PAID FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE INSURANCE PROGRAM. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 31-49e of the general statutes be amended to remove the 1 definition of "covered public employee" and amend the definition of 2 "employer" to include public employers. 3 Statement of Purpose: To remove the exemption of public employees from participation in the Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program and require all public employees to pay the Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program tax.
