AN ACT REQUIRING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR
CERTAIN SURGICAL PROCEDURES PERFORMED TO TREAT
SEVERE OBESITY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That chapter 700c of the general statutes be amended to require that 1
individual and group health insurance policies provide coverage for 2
certain surgical procedures performed to treat severe obesity, including, 3
but not limited to, gastric bypass surgery, sleeve gastrectomy and 4
duodenal switch surgery. 5
Statement of Purpose:
To require that individual and group health insurance policies provide
coverage for certain surgical procedures performed to treat severe
obesity, including, but not limited to, gastric bypass surgery, sleeve
gastrectomy and duodenal switch surgery.
