AN ACT MAKING SURCHARGES IMPOSED ON MOTOR VEHICLE 
REGISTRATIONS OPTIONAL AND LIMITING MOTOR VEHICLE 
REGISTRATION FEES. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That sections 14-49 and 14-49b of the general statutes be amended to 1 
(1) make any surcharge imposed on the registration of a motor vehicle, 2 
including the federal Clean Air Act fee and the Passport to the Parks fee, 3 
optional for the registrant and require such registrant to agree to pay 4 
any such surcharge, and (2) limit the amount of the fee for the 5 
registration of a motor vehicle to the actual cost incurred by the 6 
Department of Motor Vehicles to process such registration. 7 
Statement of Purpose:   
To provide savings to the registrants of motor vehicles in Connecticut.
