2020 AN ACT CONCERNING STATUTORY INTERPRETATION.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2222 Assembly convened:

2424 That section 1-2z of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1
2525 a court shall (1) interpret state laws independently, with no special 2
2626 weight given to a state agency's view, and (2) decide whether an 3
2727 agency's actions are consistent with the statutes and the legislature's 4
2828 intent. 5
2929 Statement of Purpose:
3030 To give state courts the power to interpret a statute independently and
3131 without having to give deference to a state agency interpretation of a
3232 statute.
