1818 AN ACT CONCERNING OVERSIGHT OF GROUP PRACTICE
1919 ACQUISITIONS AND MERGERS.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That title 19a of the general statutes be amended to (1) require each 1
2424 group practice that submits written notice of a material change to its 2
2525 business or corporate structure to the Attorney General pursuant to 3
2626 section 19a-486i of the general statutes to submit information concerning 4
2727 such group practice's intended acquisitions or mergers, including, but 5
2828 not limited to, intended acquisitions or mergers of such group practice 6
2929 by or with any hospital, private equity company, insurer, corporation or 7
3030 other group practice, to the Commissioner of Health Strategy, (2) repeal 8
3131 subsection (b) of section 19a-639 of the general statutes concerning the 9
3232 presumption in favor of approving certificate of need applications for a 10
3333 transfer of ownership of a large group practice when an offer was made 11
3434 in response to a request for proposal or similar voluntary offer for sale, 12
3535 and (3) require the Health Care Cabinet, established pursuant to section 13
3636 19a-725 of the general statutes, to examine methods to increase oversight 14
3737 of acquisitions and mergers of group practices in the state and develop 15 Proposed Bill No. 837
