1818 AN ACT CONCERNING THE COLLECTION OF INFORMATION OF
1919 STUDENTS WHO WITHDRAW FROM SCHOOL WITHOUT
2020 GRADUATING.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2222 Assembly convened:

2424 That chapter 170 of the general statutes be amended to require local 1
2525 and regional boards of education to (1) conduct an exit interview with 2
2626 each student who withdraws from school without graduating or being 3
2727 granted a diploma by such board, and that such exit interview shall be 4
2828 for the purpose of collecting information relating to (A) whether the 5
2929 student has a history of trauma, (B) whether the student's family has 6
3030 been reported to the Department of Children and Families, or any other 7
3131 agencies, for ongoing stressors or needs that are not being addressed, 8
3232 (C) the future plans of such student following such withdrawal, (D) 9
3333 whether the student has been the victim of bullying and whether such 10
3434 bullying caused a decline in academic achievement and is responsible 11
3535 for such withdrawal, and (E) whether such student can be set up in an 12
3636 environment that will allow for him or her to be trained in skills that 13
3737 will provide financial independence; and (2) aggregate such 14
3838 information in a report and submit such report to the Department of 15 Proposed Bill No. 876
