AN ACT REQUIRING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR 
RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY FOLLOWING MELANOMA SURGERY 
ON THE FACE. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That chapter 700c of the general statutes be amended to require that 1 
individual and group health insurance policies provide health 2 
insurance coverage for reconstructive surgery following melanoma 3 
surgery on the face, including surgical procedures necessary to correct 4 
disfigurement, restore normal symmetry and correct functional 5 
impairments resulting from such melanoma surgery. 6 
Statement of Purpose:   
To require that individual and group health insurance policies provide 
health insurance coverage for reconstructive surgery following 
melanoma surgery on the face, including surgical procedures necessary 
to correct disfigurement, restore normal symmetry and correct 
functional impairments resulting from such melanoma surgery.
