1819 AN ACT CONCERNING PUBLIC ADJUSTERS.
1920 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2021 Assembly convened:

2223 Section 1. Section 38a-726 of the general statutes is repealed and the 1
2324 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2025): 2
2425 (a) No public adjuster shall charge or collect a fee if, within thirty days 3
2526 of a loss to a structure covered by a fire insurance policy, the insurer 4
2627 offers in writing to pay the full policy limits. 5
2728 (b) Any fee charged to an insured by a public adjuster shall be based 6
2829 only on the amount of the insurance settlement proceeds actually 7
2930 [received by the insured] paid by the insurer on the account of a loss and 8
3031 shall be collected by such public adjuster after the [insured has received 9
3132 such proceeds from the insurer] insurer has paid such settlement 10
