AN ACT CONCERNING MEDICAID RATES FOR COMMUNITY
HOSPITALS IN RURAL AREAS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2025) As used in this section, "community 1
hospital in a rural area" means a nonfederal acute care hospital (1) 2
designated by the Connecticut State Office of Rural Health as a rural 3
hospital, (2) open to the general public, and (3) located in an area of the 4
state that is not designated as a metropolitan area by the United States 5
Office of Management and Budget and the United States Census 6
Bureau. The Commissioner of Social Services shall amend the Medicaid 7
state plan to increase Medicaid reimbursement rates for a community 8
hospital in a rural area of the state to the Medicare rates for the same 9
services at such hospital. 10
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:
