1919 AN ACT PERMITTING NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIANS TO PRESCRIBE
2020 AND ADMINISTER VITAMIN B12.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2424 Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 20-34 of the general statutes is 1
2525 repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2

2727 (a) The practice of naturopathy means the science, art and practice of 4
2828 healing by natural methods as recognized by the Council of 5
2929 Naturopathic Medical Education and that comprises diagnosis, 6
3030 prevention and treatment of disease and health optimization by 7
3131 stimulation and support of the body's natural healing processes, as 8
3232 approved by the State Board of Naturopathic Examiners, with the 9
3333 consent of the Commissioner of Public Health, and shall include (1) 10
3434 counseling; (2) the practice of the mechanical and material sciences of 11
3535 healing as follows: The mechanical sciences such as mechanotherapy, 12
3636 articular manipulation, corrective and orthopedic gymnastics, 13
3737 physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy and phototherapy; and 14
3838 the material sciences such as nutrition, dietetics, phytotherapy, 15

4545 treatment by natural substances and external applications; (3) ordering 16
4646 diagnostic tests and other diagnostic procedures as such tests and 17
4747 procedures relate to the practice of mechanical and material sciences of 18
4848 healing as described in subdivision (2) of this subsection; (4) ordering 19
4949 medical devices and durable medical equipment; [and] (5) removing ear 20
5050 wax, spirometry, tuberculosis testing and venipuncture for blood 21
5151 testing; and (6) prescribing and administering vitamin B12. 22
5252 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
