1819 AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH'S
1920 RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING FOOD SAFETY AND ORAL

2122 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2425 Section 1. Section 19a-38 of the general statutes is repealed and the 1
2526 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from passage): 2
2627 A water company, as defined in section 25-32a, shall add a measured 3
2728 amount of fluoride to the water supply of any water system that it owns 4
2829 and operates and that serves twenty thousand or more persons so as to 5
2930 maintain an average monthly fluoride content [that is not more or less 6
3031 than 0.15 of a milligram per liter different than the United States 7
3132 Department of Health and Human Services' most recent 8
3233 recommendation for optimal fluoride levels in drinking water to 9
3334 prevent tooth decay] of 0.7 of a milligram per liter, provided said 10
3435 average monthly fluoride content shall not deviate greater or less than 11

4245 (a) Not later than January 1, 2023, the commissioner shall adopt and 15
4346 administer by reference the United States Food and Drug 16
4447 Administration's Food Code [, as amended from time to time,] and any 17
4548 revision thereto issued on or before December 31, 2024. The 18
4649 commissioner may adopt any Food Code Supplement published by said 19
4750 administration as the state's food code for the purpose of regulating 20
4851 food establishments. 21
4952 (b) The commissioner may adopt regulations, in accordance with the 22
5053 provisions of chapter 54, to implement the provisions of this section and 23
5154 sections 19a-36i to 19a-36m, inclusive. 24
