LCO 1 of 2 General Assembly Substitute Bill No. 1350 January Session, 2025 AN ACT CONCERNING THE AVAILABILITY OF AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS AND REQUIRING CARDIAC EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLANS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2025) Not later than January 1, 2026, 1 the Department of Education shall establish a grant program to award 2 grants to local and regional boards of education to offset the costs of 3 implementing a cardiac emergency response plan developed pursuant 4 to section 10-212d of the general statutes, including, but not limited to, 5 costs incurred for the purchase and maintenance of automated external 6 defibrillators and training in the use of such automated external 7 defibrillators. Grants shall be awarded (1) on a first-come, first-served 8 basis to each such board of education, except that priority shall be given 9 to a board of education for the purpose of implementing such plan in a 10 priority school, as defined in section 10-16p of the general statutes, and 11 (2) in an amount prescribed by the Commissioner of Education. On or 12 before January 1, 2026, the department shall post in a conspicuous 13 location on its Internet web site (A) a description of such grant program, 14 including, but not limited to, the amount of such grant available to such 15 boards of education, and (B) the application form for such grant 16 program. 17 Sec. 2. (Effective July 1, 2025) The sum of five hundred twenty-one 18 Substitute Bill No. 1350 LCO 2 of 2 thousand dollars is appropriated to the Department of Education from 19 the General Fund, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, for the grant 20 program established pursuant to section 1 of this act. 21 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 July 1, 2025 New section Sec. 2 July 1, 2025 New section ED Joint Favorable Subst.
