1919 To amend Chapter 10 of Section 47 of the District of Columbia Official Code to provide for a 18

2323 BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 22
2424 act may be cited as the “Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Real Property Tax Exemption Act of 23
2525 2023.”. 24
2626 Sec. 2. Chapter 10 of Title 47 of the District of Columbia Official Code is amended as 25
2727 follows: 26
2828 (a) The table of contents is amended by adding a new section designation to read as 27
2929 follows: 28
3030 “§47-1099.14. Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. House; Lot 813, Square 0154.”. 29
3131 (b) A new section 47- 1099.14 is added to read as follows: 30
3232 “§47-1099.14. Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. House ; Lot 813, Square 0154. 31
3333 “(a) The real property and any improvements on the property, located at 1708 S St., NW, 32
3434 known for tax and assessment purposes as Lot 813, Square 0154, (“Property”) shall be exempt 33 2
3535 from the tax imposed by Chapter 8 of this title , for the period beginning January 1, 2024, and 34
3636 ending January 1, 2034, so long as the Property is owned by Kappa Alpha Ps i Fraternity, Inc. 35
3737 “(b) The tax exemption provided pursuant to this paragraph shall be in addition to, and 36
3838 not in lieu of, any other tax relief or assistance from any other source applicable to the Kappa 37
3939 Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. House.” 38
4040 Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement. 39
4141 The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement in the committee report as the fiscal 40
4242 impact statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, 41
4343 approved October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1- 301.47a). 42
4444 Sec. 4. Effective date. 43
4545 This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the 44
4646 Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30- day period of congressional review as 45
4747 provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 46
4848 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code § 1- 206.02(c)(1)), and publication in the District of 47
4949 Columbia Register. 48
