17		-	To amend, on a temporary basis, the Rental Housing Act of 1985to give housing providers until
18		-	January 1, 2024, to comply with a legislative change that requires a 60-day notice of a rent

21		-	BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may
22		-	be cited as the “Fairness in Renting Notice Clarification Temporary Amendment Act of 2023”.

24		-	Sec. 2. Section 904(b) of the Rental Housing Act of 1985, effective July 17, 1985 (D.C.
25		-	Law 6-10; D.C. Official Code § 42-3509.04(b)), is amended by striking the word “tenant” and
26		-	inserting the phrase “tenant, or, if the notice was provided before January 1, 2024, more than 30
27		-	days after the notice of the increase is given to the tenant” in its place.

29		-	Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement.
30		-	The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact
31		-	statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved
32		-	October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a).
