To amend the Industrial Safety Act Clarification Amendment Act of 2023 to modify its 8
applicability date. 9

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 11
act may be cited as the “Industrial Safety Act Employer Application Clarification Amendment 12
Act of 2024”. 13
Sec. 2. Section 3 of the Industrial Safety Act Clarification Amendment Act of 2023, 14
effective December 20, 2023 (D.C. Law 25-91; 70 DCR 014506), is amended to read as follows: 15
“Sec. 3. Applicability. 16
“This act shall apply to civil actions first filed on or after January 1, 2014.”. 17
Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement. 18
The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact 19
statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved 20
October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a). 21
Sec. 4. Effective date. 22

This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the 23
Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30-day period of congressional review as 24
provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 25
24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code § 1-206.02(c)(1)), and publication in the District of 26
Columbia Register. 27
