To designate the public alley system within Square 5755, Lots 830 and 841, located at 1655- 16
1659 W Street, SE, between W Street SE and Galen Street, SE, in Ward 8 as East River 17
Alley. 18

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT COLUMBIA, That this act 20
21
may be cited as the “East River Alley Designation Act of 2024”. 22
23
Sec. 2. Pursuant to sections 401, 403, and 421 of the Street and Alley Closing and 24
25
Acquisitions Procedures Act of 1982, effective March 10, 1983 (D.C. Law 4-201; D.C. Official 26
27
Code §§ 9-204.01, 9-204.03, and 9-204.21), the Council designates the public alley system 28
29
within Square 5755, bounded by W Street SE and Galen Street SE, as depicted by the plat in 30
31
the committee report, as “East River Alley”. 32

Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement. 34

The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement in the committee report as the fiscal 36
37
impact statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, 38
39
approved October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a). 40

Sec. 4. Effective date. 42

This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the 44
45
Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30-day period of congressional review as 46 provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 47

24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813: D.C. Official Code § 1-206.02(c)(1), and publication in the District of 49
50
Columbia Register. 51
