| 20 | 20 | | act may be cited as the “Spousal Homestead Exemption Amendment Act of 2024”. 6 |

| 21 | 21 | | Sec. 2. Section § 47-850 of the District of Columbia Official Code is amended as follows: 7 |

| 22 | 22 | | (a) A new paragraph 4 is added to read as follows: 8 |

| 23 | 23 | | “(4) For the purposes of this subsection, the term “eligible spouse” means the 9 |

| 24 | 24 | | surviving spouse or domestic partner of a veteran who was receiving the benefits provided under 10 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | this section prior to passing or who would have been eligible for the benefits prior to passing.”. 11 |

| 26 | 26 | | (b) Strike the word “veteran” wherever it appears and insert the phrase “veteran or 12 |
