17+Today, along with Councilmembers Kenyan R. McDuffie, Vincent C. Gray, and Robert C. White,
18+Jr., I am introducing the “Burleith Centennial Recognition Resolution of 2023”. Please find
19+attached a signed copy of the legislation.

21+This ceremonial resolution recognizes the 100th Anniversary of the Burleith neighborhood in
22+Ward 2, celebrating the myriad contributions this neighborhood's residents and property owners,
23+as well as the Burleith Citizens Association, have made to the neighborhood, the surrounding
24+community, and the District throughout the last 100 years.

17- WHEREAS, 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Burleith
18-neighborhood, a village in the city, in Northwest Washington, DC;

20-WHEREAS, shortly thereafter the residents formed the Burleith Citizens Association
21-(“Association”) which was instrumental in the development of the neighborhood as it is known
22-today;

39-resolution may be cited as the “Burleith Centennial Recognition Resolution of 2023”.

41- Sec. 2. The Council recognizes and honors the Burleith neighborhood on its 100th
42-anniversary for its exceptional contributions to all aspects of life in the District of Columbia.

44- Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
