ENROLLED ORIGINAL 1 A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 25-36 IN THE COUNC IL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA March 7, 2023 To recognize and congratulate the Saint John’s College Girls’ Basketball team for winning the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Girls’ Basketball Championship. WHEREAS, St. John’s College High School, established in 1851 is the second- oldest Christian Brothers school in the United States; WHEREAS, St. John’s College High School, located in northwest Washington, D.C., remains a bastion of academic excellence, with 100% of St. John’s graduates accepted into 4- year colleges or universities; WHEREAS, St. John’s succeeds in preparing young people for a life dedicated to leadership, achievement, and service to the community; WHEREAS, the philanthropic efforts of St. John’s include 25,000 hours of annual student Christian service; WHEREAS, on February 27, 2023, the St. John’s College High School Girls’ Varsity Basketball team, led by Head Coach Jonathan Scribner , defeated Paul VI by a score of 48- 36 to win the 2023 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (“WCAC”) championship, the team’s second consecutive WCAC championship victory; WHEREAS, the Ward 4 community is proud of the achievements of the St. John’ s Girls’ Basketball team; WHEREAS, the St. John’s College High School Varsity Girls’ Basketball team roster for the 2022- 2023 season includes: Carolae Barton Amanda Bates Mikaia Carr Lyla Coogen Samantha Eller Giselle Grant Tatum Greene Jaidyn Harper ENROLLED ORIGINAL 2 Patricia Kolb Ava O ’Neil Morgan Stewart Delaney Thomas Kyndal Walker WHEREAS, the St. John’s College High School Varsity Girls’ Basketball team have triumphed and excelled on the court and in the classroom. RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited as the “St. John’s College High School Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team Recognition Resolution of 2023”. Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia heartily congratulates Head Coach Jonathan Scribner for his coaching excellence and the players of the St. John’s College High School Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team for their athletic accomplishment . Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
