ENROLLED ORIGINAL 1 A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 25-116 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA September 19, 2023 To recognize and honor Richard S. Lee, aka Rick Lee, for his career and life in the District of Columbia on his 80 th birthday. WHEREAS, Rick Lee has been the owner, and Chairman of the Board of Lee’s Florist that has been located in the District of Columbia for 78 years; WHEREAS, Rick Lee long- standing business ties and community outreach has made a longstanding impact on the District of Columbia and its residents in numerous ways; WHEREAS, Rick Lee has dedicated his career as a business owner to serving the citizens of the District of Columbia by providing dedicated services for more than 45 years in the role as the business owner; WHEREAS, Rick Lee has served on various government Boards and Associations as Vice-President of the U Street Business Association, under the late Marion Barry, serving as President, served 4 years as an appointed Statehood Commissioner under the late Harry Thomas Sr., and served an appointment to the Board of Accountancy under the late Mayor Marion Barry; WHEREAS, Rick Lee was the recipient of the Small Businessman of the Year from the DC Chamber of Commerce; WHEREAS, Rick Lee has served on the Boards of various organizations throughout the District of Columbia including the Board of Directors for the DC Children’s Trust Fund, as the Small Business Vice Chairman of the local United Way , as a Member of the Board of the Washington Gas Consumer Advisory Board, as Chairman of the Banneker Boy Scouts of America, as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Lincoln Theater, as Vice- President of Kiwanis Club of NE Washington DC , as Vice- President of the Shaw Neighborhood Association, and as a Member of the Board of Directors for MANNA. ENROLLED ORIGINAL 2 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited as the “Richard S Lee Recognition Resolution of 2023.” Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors Richard S. Lee, aka Rick Lee, for his career and life in the District of Columbia on his 80 th birthday . Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
