A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 
 
25-121 
 
IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 
 
October 3, 2023 
 To recognize and honor Bruce Baschuk for his commitment to the Georgetown community and 
numerous contributions to the District of Columbia and its businesses, residents, youth, and visitors. 
   
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk founded the J Street Companies in 1995, a boutique real 
estate services firm whose work has successfully developed and managed projects throughout the 
greater Washington, D.C., Dallas/Fort Worth, and Chicago metropolitan areas; 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk has made enormous civic contributions to the District of 
Columbia; 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk served as the president of Jubilee Enterprises, an 
organization that redeveloped more than 1,300 residential units in Southeast Washington, D.C.; 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk coached youth lacrosse and founded 	WINNERS Lacrosse, a 
non-profit inner-city organization that mentors boys and girls in Washington, D.C.; 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk served as the President of the Washington, D	.C., Board of 
Realtors; 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk co-founded and chaired the Board of the NoMa Business 
Improvement District (BID); 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk served as a Trustee of the Federal City Council; 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk joined the Board of Directors of the Georgetown Business 
Improvement District (“Georgetown BID ”) in 2011; 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk co-chaired the Georgetown 2028 Task Force, working with 
over 200 community members and organizations to develop a consensus strategic Action Agenda 
to preserve, fix and enhance the Georgetown commercial district; 
 
WHEREAS, Bruce Baschuk successfully helped lead the Georgetown BID to survive and 
come out of the pandemic in a strong position;    	ENROLLED ORIGINAL

WHEREAS Bruce Baschuk is retiring as Chair of the Georgetown BID Board after 8 
years of outstanding leadership and service in this position, while continuing to serve on the 
Georgetown BID Board . 
 
 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 
resolution may be cited as the “	Bruce Baschuk Recognition Resolution of 2023”. 
 
 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia honors and celebrates Bruce Baschuk for 
the extraordinary impact he has made in the Georgetown community, the District of Columbia, 
the commercial real estate industry, and with city youth through his hard work and dedication to 
making our city a better place for everyone.  
 
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
