31+To recognize and honor the life of Henderson “OT” Blount and his dedication and work 29

34+WHEREAS, Henderson “OT” Blount was born in Hampton, Virgnia on October 7, 1968, 32
35+the youngest of 6 children, eventually moving to the District and becoming Ward 8 Woods 33
36+Conservancy’s longest serving park steward; 34
37+ WHEREAS, Mr. Blount began working for Ward 8 Woods Conservancy in October 35
38+2020, rarely missing a day of work, helping the organization remove more than 1,000,000 36
39+pounds of trash from the District’s often forgotten forested areas; 37
40+WHEREAS, Mr. Blount was funny, outgoing, and not shy to pull a prank on a co-worker, 38
41+but he also provided the wisdom of age—helping him earn his nickname of OT, for Old Timer—39

17-WHEREAS, Henderson “OT” Blount was born in Hampton, Virgnia on October 7, 1968,
18-the youngest of 6 children, eventually moving to the District and becoming Ward 8 Woods
19-Conservancy’s longest serving park steward;

21- WHEREAS, Mr. Blount began working for Ward 8 Woods Conservancy in October

35-WHEREAS, Mr. Blount is survived by, mourned, and remembered with love by 5 older
36-sisters and a host of nieces, nephews, grand- nephews, relatives, and friends.

38-IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF
39-COLUMBIA, T hat the Council recognizes and thanks Henderson “OT” Blount for his years of
40-dedication to improving the District’s natural spaces and sends condolences to his family and
41-friends.

43- Sec. 2. This resolution may be cited as the “OT Blount Memorial Recognition Resolution
44-of 2023”.

46- Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
