Nadeau 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 23 ______________ 24 25 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 26 __________________ 27 28 To recognize and celebrate Ms. Monica Bibbs for 35 years of service to the District of 29 Columbia public schools and her contributions as an educator, administrator, and 30 community member upon the occasion of her retirement. 31 32 WHEREAS, Ms. Bibbs attended H.D. Cooke Elementary School, St. Patrick’s Academy, 33 and Immaculata High School in her elementary and secondary years, and earned undergraduate 34 and graduate degrees from the University of the District of Columbia; 35 36 WHEREAS, Ms. Bibbs began her professional and teaching career in 1987 in the 37 mathematics department of H.D. Woodson Senior High School, and taught secondary 38 mathematics, summer school mathematics, and other courses, and served in the central 39 administration as the mathematics content specialist for 18 years; 40 41 WHEREAS, Ms. Bibbs then accepted a role as the Assistant Principal of W.B. Patterson 42 Elementary School and served in that position for two years and was then promoted to the 43 position of Director of School Strategies and Logistics; 44 45 WHEREAS, Ms. Bibbs tenure as an educator and administrator has been marked by 46 excellence in leadership, strategy, and initiative; 47 48 WHEREAS, Ms. Bibbs is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and 49 has participated in community service initiatives since joining the sorority in1985; 50 51 WHEREAS, Ms. Bibbs has demonstrated a commitment to developing team members 52 and the next generation of youth and educators; 53 54 WHEREAS, Ms. Bibbs has nurtured and contributed to the success of thousands of 55 students in Wards 7 and 8 specifically and throughout the District, and worked tirelessly to meet 56 the educational and developmental needs of District youth; 57 58 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this 59 resolution may be cited as the “Monica Bibbs Retirement Recognition Resolution of 2023”. 60 61 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes the 35 years of exemplary 62 service provided by Ms. Bibbs and congratulates her on her retirement. 63 64 Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon the first date of publication in 65 the District of Columbia Register. 66 67
