12- To celebrate and honor Reverend H. Lionel Edmonds for his dedicated service to the faith-based
13-community and commitment to responsible community redevelopment in Washington, D.C.
14- WHEREAS, Rev. Edmonds has faithfully served as the Senior Pastor of Mt. Lebanon
15-Baptist Church for over 30 years, commencing his dedicated service in November 1992;
16- WHEREAS, Rev. Edmonds , a distinguished alumnus of Howard University with a
17-master’s degree in religious studies, has demonstrated a commitment to intellectual
18-and spiritual enrichment;
19- WHEREAS, Rev. Edmonds played a pivotal role in co- founding the Washington Interfaith
20-Network (WIN) in October 1996, a transformative organization dedicated to fostering citizen empowerment, accountability of elected officials, and addressing community issues across the District;
21- WHEREAS, Rev. Edmonds established the Mt. Lebanon Community Development
22-Corporation (CDC) in 2006 to enhance local civic life through initiatives such as affordable housing, health and wellness education, job training, and workforce development;
23- WHEREAS, under Sr. Pastor Edmonds ’s visionary leadership, the Mt. Lebanon CDC
24-successfully transformed an historic apartment building known as “The Oakmont” from a former crack house to a multi-use affordable housing development, featuring offices for small
25-businesses and community space for meetings and gatherings;
26- WHEREAS, the Mt. Lebanon CDC, in collaboration with Mission First -Housing Group
27-and Urban Matters-Development Partners, LLC, converted the former M.M. Washington School
28-into an 82- unit senior affordable housing facility named “House of Lebanon” in December 2013,
29-providing essential housing and community space for senior D .C. residents;
30- WHEREAS, Rev. Edmonds is a member of the Washington, D.C. Hall of Fame and has
31-received the Legacy Award for his work.

41-Edmonds for his exceptional leadership and many contributions to the spiritual, social, and
42-economic well-being of our community.

44- Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
