ENROLLED ORIGINAL 1 A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 25-188 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA March 5, 2024 To recognize, honor, and congratulate the Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Program for winning their 5 th consecutive DCIAA City Championship. WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School is historically the first public high school for Colored people and is located on the Corner of N & First street in Ward 5, with its High School motto being ‘Enter to learn, Depart to serve’; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team had back-to-back DCIAA City Championships wins; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Track and Field Team finished the year with a winning record for the 5 th consecutive season; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team DCIAA Champions took home several Conference honors including All -League, Field Event MVP, Track MVP of the 2024 DCIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships ; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team DCIAA title drew recognition from Washington Post, DCP S, and Council Members; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field team has continued to promote high character student -athletes and great sportsmanship; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team coaching staff consists of Marvin Parker, Yunlay Bridges, Hadiya Green, Sherman Turner, Olivia Sedwick, and Ariana; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team was also supported by one student-manager, Kyla Wallace; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team is led by All Met Coach of the year, 10+ times DCIAA Coach of the year, Marvin Parker; ENROLLED ORIGINAL 2 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Head Coach, Marvin Parker is the recipient of the 2023 DCIAA Coach of the year presented by the DCIAA; WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School and Head Coach, Ma rvin Parker are dedicated to advocate for legislation to increase the amount of access for underserved communities: WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School DCIAA Indoor Track and Field championship winning team members include: Amiaya Richardson Beniya Bissahoyo Kortney Clipper Giovanni Animal Farug Kaitlyn George Janaya Goins Kyndle Hale Available Jackson Malia Long Avary May Diamond McDonald Jaelyn Moore Samiah Onyekwere-Bussie Malone Plummer Kimora Robinson Mykayla Woods Tahari Wyatt Samiyah Munu Heaven Robinson RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, T hat this resolution may be cited as the “Dunbar High School Indoor Track and Field 2024 DCIAA, Championship Recognition Resolution of 2024.” Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors the Dunbar High School Girls Track and Field team for winning the 2024 DCIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship. Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
