25-194   
IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA  
  
April 2, 2024  
 
To recognize and honor the life and accomplishments of Mailyn Amore Turkes	. 
WHEREAS, Mailyn Amore Turkes was born on November 28, 2012 to her loving 
parents Taniesha Clark and Michael Turkes; 
WHEREAS, Mailyn was born a star, and her light filled any room she walked into, 
complemented by the brightest smile to match her loving spirit; 
WHEREAS, Mailyn was a student who attended Two Rivers Elementary School; 
WHEREAS, Mailyn enjoyed creating jewelry, producing YouTube/TikTok content, 
traveling, gymnastics, dancing, roller skating, interior home design, taking trips to Starbucks, 
shopping, and assisting her mother with real estate ventures; 
WHEREAS, at a young age, she showed an interest in entrepreneurship by selling pop 
sockets and charm bracelets, and she planned to continue expanding her ventures; 
WHEREAS, spending quality time with her family and friends was her number one 
priority; 
WHEREAS, Mailyn was a child of light, love, leadership, and courage; 
WHEREAS, Mailyn is survived by a large and loving family, including her parents 
Taniesha Clark and Michael Turkes, her siblings Makaia, Morgan, Michael, Miley, Montana, 
Symphony, Micah, Bryce, Brynten, and Marlee, her great-grandparents Mildred Cobb Clark, 
Marvin Clark, and Jacquelyn McCormick, maternal grandparents Evelyn Clark and Xavier 
McCormick, paternal grandparents Michelle Colbert and Michael Turkes, aunts Lisa, Brickette, 
Darnetta, Donxavia, Toya, Joy, Marketta, Mikia, and Miera, uncle Alvin, godmother Shauntia, 
god siblings Shaniya, Saige, Erykah, and Dylon, a host of cousins, and her best friends Kennedy, 
Skylar, and Da'Loni; 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this  
resolution may be cited as the “Mailyn Amore Turkes Posthumous Ceremonial Resolution of 
2024”.

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors the life and 
accomplishments of Mailyn Amore Turkes. 
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
