13		-	WHEREAS, the Georgetown Garden Club, founded in 1924 and cherished for its
14		-	dedication to beautifying every corner of Georgetown, is celebrating its 100th anniversary in
15		-	2024;

17		-	WHEREAS, on May 11th, 2024, the Georgetown Garden Club will host the 94th Annual
18		-	Georgetown Garden Tour;

20		-	WHEREAS, the Georgetown Garden Club w ill commemorate its centennial by planting
21		-	native plants and other perennials in the front beds of the Georgetown Library, engaging the
22		-	community with a “flower flash,” and sparking the imaginations of children and families through
23		-	a tree treasure hunt;

25		-	WHEREAS, the Annual Georgetown Garden Tour and the Georgetown Garden Club’s
26		-	other fundraising efforts have raised over $750,000 for the greenification of Georgetow n’s tree-
27		-	lined streets and public spaces;

29		-	WHEREAS, the Georgetown Garden Club’s support benefits Book Hill Park, Dumbarton
30		-	House gardens, Dumbarton Oaks Park Conservancy, Georgetown Waterfront Park, Montrose
31		-	Park, Rose Park, the Student Conservation Association, Trees for Georgetown, Tudor Place
32		-	House and Gardens Museum, and Volta Park Habitat Garden; and

34		-	WHEREAS, the Georgetown Garden Club has given the District the gift of beautiful
35		-	green spaces to enjoy and cherish for the last 100 years .
36		-	RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
37		-	resolution may be cited as the “Georgetown Garden Club 100th Anniversary Recognition
