15		-	To recognize June Quisenbur y for her remarkable century of life and declare June 29, 2024, “June
16		-	Quisenbury Day” in the District of Columbia.

18		-	WHEREAS, June Quisenbury is a Ward 6 resident who will be turning 100 years young
19		-	on June 29, 2024;

21		-	WHEREAS, June, affectionately known as “ Junie Bug” , is a lifelong Washingtonian and
22		-	a beloved figure in her family and community;
23		-
24		-	WHEREAS, born and raised in Northeast Washington, June has dedicated her life to
25		-	serving and enriching the District through decades of public service and active participation in her
26		-	church;

28		-	WHEREAS, June was educated at Bruce Elementary School, Garnet Patterson Junior High
29		-	School, Dunbar Senior High School , and Howard University;
30		-
31		-	WHEREAS, June’s professional career spanned several roles with the federal government ,
32		-	including the Navy and the Veterans Administration, where she dedicated many years to the
33		-	betterment of our nation;

35		-	WHEREAS, June's journey reflects resilience and spirited dedication;

37		-	WHEREAS, June’s long-standing membership at Vermont Avenue Baptist Church and her
38		-	passion for globe-trotting have infused her life with joy and broadened her impact;

40		-	WHEREAS, June has lived at 5th and I Streets, NE, since 1947, deepening her roots in the
41		-	community for more than 75 years ; and

43		-	WHEREAS, June’s neighbors cherish her presence, and she is a pillar of the community.

45		-	RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, T hat this
46		-	resolution may be cited as the “June Quisenbury Recognition Resolution of 2024”.
