31+WHEREAS, Judge Terrell has devoted her life to serving the children of the District of 29
32+Columbia as an educator and youth advocate providing vital support and opportunity to DC 30

35+WHEREAS, President Bill Clinton appointed Judge Terrell as an Associate Judge to the 33
36+Superior Court of the District of Columbia, serving from September 1997 to June 2009; 34

38+WHEREAS, Judge Terrell was appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser as a Special Advisor 36
39+to the Director of the Department of Employment Service and served as the Interim President 37
40+and CEO of the Children and Youth Investment Corporation; 38

42+WHEREAS, Judge Terrell was appointed by the Washington Urban League as Director of 40
43+the Dix Street Academy, an alternative high school for youth who dropped out or were pushed 41
44+out of DC Public Schools, and served as one of the founders of the Street Law Program; 42

46+WHEREAS, from 1999 to 2003, Judge Terrell conducted judicial training in Mali, 44

51- RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
52-resolution may be cited as the “Judge Mary Ann Gooden Terrell Recognition Resolution of
53-2024.”

55- Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors Judge Terrell for
56-her passion for expanding access to education, her dedication to students and families, and her
57-commitment to service, both abroad and in the District of Columbia.

59- Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
