Dr. Miriam Michael 
Dr. Miriam Michael’s career in nephrology has spanned nearly two 
decades, having earned her special honors for outstanding clinical 
performance.  She has gained extensive experience in healthcare 
environments, at universities serving as a professor, and currently, she 
is the Medical Director for American Renal Associated Dialysis center 
in Washington, D.C. During her tenure, she has treated and managed 
patients with kidney diseases ranging from acute failure to kidney 
transplant as well as those with hypertension diagnosis.  
Currently, she is an attending physician at Howard University Hospital, 
where she has been highly committed to teaching, research, and clinical 
medicine. Dr. Michael has been a catalyst in the renal care industry; she serves on several

meetings and assemblies. Her additional expertise includes renal biopsy, vascular access 
placement, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and care management of transplant patients. Her 
work has also been funded via grants for Howard University to study and track new diabetic 
dialysis patients’ intradialytic hypertension/hypotension (remotely from home), variances in blood 
pressure, weight, and heart rate, and to identify parameters and factors that predict hospitalization 
and mortality. Currently, she consults with a plethora of organizations and is an invited expert 
speaker for many national meetings and assemblies. 
A Ward 1 resident, Dr. Michael earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of
