412+Dr. Miriam Michael’s career in nephrology has spanned nearly two
413+decades, having earned her special honors for outstanding clinical
414+performance. She has gained extensive experience in healthcare
415+environments, at universities serving as a professor, and currently, she
416+is the Medical Director for American Renal Associated Dialysis center
417+in Washington, D.C. During her tenure, she has treated and managed
418+patients with kidney diseases ranging from acute failure to kidney
419+transplant as well as those with hypertension diagnosis.
420+Currently, she is an attending physician at Howard University Hospital,
421+where she has been highly committed to teaching, research, and clinical
422+medicine. Dr. Michael has been a catalyst in the renal care industry; she serves on several
423+committees, consults with organizations, and is often an invited speaker for many national
424+meetings and assemblies. Her additional expertise includes renal biopsy, vascular access
425+placement, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and care management of transplant patients. Her
426+work has also been funded via grants for Howard University to study and track new diabetic
427+dialysis patients’ intradialytic hypertension/hypotension (remotely from home), variances in blood
428+pressure, weight, and heart rate, and to identify parameters and factors that predict hospitalization
429+and mortality. Currently, she consults with a plethora of organizations and is an invited expert
430+speaker for many national meetings and assemblies.
431+A Ward 1 resident, Dr. Michael earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of
