518+Dr. Harry Barbee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health,
519+Behavior and Society in the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns
520+Hopkins University. They received their PhD in sociology from Florida
521+State University in 2020 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the
522+Department of Medicine, Health, and Society at Vanderbilt University
523+until December 2022.
524+Their research and teaching focus on issues of gender, sexuality, aging,
525+and health. They are especially interested in social factors that influence
526+LGBTQ+ people's health and aging. Their work has been supported by
527+the National Institutes of Health as a member of the Vanderbilt
528+University Social Networks, Aging, and Policy Study, and has been covered by major news outlets
529+such as New York Times Magazine and the Washington Post.
530+A Ward 1 resident, Dr. Barbee earned their Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology
