194+While a member of the TIG, championed the Road Safety Audit program among State
195+DOTs through an aggressive marketing campaign include a national peer-to-peer summit

211+Mr. Anthony Giancola is a professional engineer with over 46 years of
212+experience in transportation and government consulting, presently
213+licensed in the District of Columbia. He currently serves as a principal
214+member of the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority Board of
215+Directors.
216+Mr. Giancola served a twenty-year active duty career in the Civil Engineer
217+Corps, U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of Commander. Since military
218+retirement, he has worked as the Public Works Director, City of Takoma
219+Park, Maryland and Chief Engineer, Public Works Department, Frederick
220+County, Maryland. He served as the Executive Director, National Association of County Engineers
221+from October 1993 through June 2011.
222+Mr. Giancola is a life member of the American Public Works Association (APWA). He served as
223+President of the VA/DC/MD Chapter in 1996, President of the Institute of Transportation in 1995,
224+and the APWA representative on the National Quality Initiative Steering Committee from 1993 to
225+1995. In addition, he is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He is also
226+the former chair of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Low Volume Roads Committee
227+(2001- 2007) and currently serves as Secretary for the Roadway Safety Foundation Advisory of the
228+National Center for Pavement Preservation Advisory Committee (2005- 2011). Mr. Giancola
229+served as a D.C. member and a federal appointee on the Board of Directors of the Washington
230+Metropolitan Area Transit Authority from 2007 to 2011.
231+A Ward 4 Resident, Mr. Giancola received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from
232+Syracuse University and a Master of Public Works in Engineering and Administration and a
