teacher efficacy, and parent morale at all boy inner city high school. Data presented in 2019

Research Fellow, Kendeya Community Health Partnership, Participated in a month long research 
and practicum experience in Senegal, Africa in order to explore the mental health needs of persons in Saraya, Senegal. Researched the experience of the severely mentally ill and

co-occurring disorder treatment program for maximum security patients found Not Guilty

serving institutions, predominately Hispanic serving institutions, and tribal colleges.

Shareefah Al'Uqda 
Dr. Shareefah N. Al’Uqdah, has a long-standing commitment to 
improving the lives of women and minorities through mental health 
initiatives and is a current member of the Racial Equity Advisory Board. 
At Howard University, she serves as an Associate Professor in the APA 
accredited Counseling Psychology program. Dr. Al’Uqdah not only 
educates future psychologists, but she also conducts national and 
international workshops for educators, professionals, and community 
members on wellness. Her published research examines issues that 
impact urban families, urban schools, and African American Muslims. 
She has received over two million dollars in grant funding to help 
decrease mental health disparities within underserved communities. Outside of the academy, Dr. 
Al’Uqdah serves as the Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Your Neighborhood Clinic, a not-
for-profit that provides low cost and insurance-based mental health services. As a loving wife and 
mother of four wonderful sons, Dr. Al’Uqdah affectionately coined Your Neighborhood 
Psychologist on social media to highlight her commitment to healing every hood everywhere 
through mental health awareness. 
A Ward 7 resident, Dr. Al’Uqdah earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Psychology 
from North Carolina Central University and Doctor of Philosophy 	in Counseling Psychology at
