Wilson Building | 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suite 600 | Washington, DC 20004 Andrew Trueblood Mr. Andrew Trueblood is a housing, economic development, land use, and urban policy professional who supports local and state governments, nonprofits, and businesses that are building more vibrant and equitable futures. He currently works for Trueblood.city, which partners with nonprofits, businesses, coalitions, and public sector organizations to advance economic vitality, place-based opportunity, housing attainability, and community vibrance. Between November 2018 and December 2021, Mr. Trueblood served as the Director of the DC Office of Planning (OP). During this tenure, he prioritized agency efforts around housing and equity. He shepherded the update of the Comprehensive Plan with a focus on updates around housing, equity, resilience, public facilities and COVID-19 recovery. He led OP in its support of Mayor Bowser’s historic housing efforts, including her goal of 36,000 new units by 2025, with 12,000 affordable units. In 2019, OP released the Housing Equity Report which analyzed the history of segregation in the District and presented area-level affordable housing targets with the goal of achieving a more equitable distribution of affordable housing. He also championed regional coordination, including through his role as Chair of the Planning Directors Technical Committee at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, where he helped formulate regional housing targets. Prior to joining OP, Mr. Trueblood was the Chief of Staff at DC’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). Throughout his time at DMPED, he worked to support real estate and business development, improve the agency’s data and analysis capacity and to create open and accessible data and analysis, especially through the creation of the Economic Intelligence program. Before joining the District Government, he helped start up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and worked at Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. Prior to his federal government service, he worked on redevelopment planning and finance for the DC Housing Authority. A Ward 8 resident, Mr. Trueblood earned his Bachelor of Arts from the School of Public and International Affairs from Princeton University and a Master of City Planning from the Department of Urban Studies and Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
