Andrew Trueblood

Mr. Andrew Trueblood is a housing, economic development, land use,
and urban policy professional who supports local and state governments,
nonprofits, and businesses that are building more vibrant and equitable
futures. He currently works for Trueblood.city, which partners with
nonprofits, businesses, coalitions, and public sector organizations to
advance economic vitality, place-based opportunity, housing
attainability, and community vibrance.
Between November 2018 and December 2021, Mr. Trueblood served as
the Director of the DC Office of Planning (OP). During this tenure, he
prioritized agency efforts around housing and equity. He shepherded the
update of the Comprehensive Plan with a focus on updates around
housing, equity, resilience, public facilities and COVID-19 recovery. He led OP in its support of
Mayor Bowser’s historic housing efforts, including her goal of 36,000 new units by 2025, with
12,000 affordable units. In 2019, OP released the Housing Equity Report which analyzed the
history of segregation in the District and presented area-level affordable housing targets with the
goal of achieving a more equitable distribution of affordable housing. He also championed regional
coordination, including through his role as Chair of the Planning Directors Technical Committee
at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, where he helped formulate regional
housing targets.
Prior to joining OP, Mr. Trueblood was the Chief of Staff at DC’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for
Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). Throughout his time at DMPED, he worked to
support real estate and business development, improve the agency’s data and analysis capacity and
to create open and accessible data and analysis, especially through the creation of the Economic
Intelligence program. Before joining the District Government, he helped start up the Consumer
Financial Protection Bureau and worked at Treasury’s Community Development Financial
Institutions Fund. Prior to his federal government service, he worked on redevelopment planning
and finance for the DC Housing Authority.
A Ward 8 resident, Mr. Trueblood earned his Bachelor of Arts from the School of Public and
International Affairs from Princeton University and a Master of City Planning from the
Department of Urban Studies and Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
