 152nd GENERAL ASSEMBLY

 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 125

RECOGNIZING THE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN GAZA AND SUPPORTING AN IMMEDIATE AND LASTING CEASEFIRE.

WHEREAS, we are united in grieving the unjust killing by Hamas of over 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023, an act which shocks the conscience and is a stark reminder that Israeli citizens live under a cloud of potential deadly violence each day; and WHEREAS, tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians have been killed since October 2023; and WHEREAS, bombing has displaced 90% of Gazas population, destroyed half of the housing in Gaza, and created a humanitarian crisis for over 2 million Gazan civilians who are without shelter, food, water, electricity, and healthcare; and WHEREAS, more than 484 healthcare workers and 97 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza since October; and WHEREAS, polling shows a majority of Americans support a ceasefire in Gaza. NOW, THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 152nd General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, supports an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, including the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, delivery of immediate and sustained humanitarian aid to Gaza, and diplomatic action to facilitate long-term and mutually respectful peace in the region. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that 152nd General Assembly affirms its commitment to stand against antisemitism, Islamophobia, and anti-Palestinian and Arab bigotry, and its support for the people of both Israel and Palestine to live in peace and security.
