Williams on behalf of all Representatives DELAWARE STATE SENATE 153rd GENERAL ASSEMBLY SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 41 RECOGNIZING THE SOUTHERN REGIONAL EDUCATION BOARD FOR VISITING THE DELAWARE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON MARCH 27, 2025, AND COMMENDING ITS WORK TO ADVANCE HIGH-QUALITY EDUCATION THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHERN REGION AND ITS COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING STATE POLICYMAKERS, EDUCATORS, AND STUDENTS. WHEREAS, the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) was created in 1948 by governors and legislators who recognized the critical need for states to work together to improve education and increase economic opportunity across the southern region; and WHEREAS, SREB is a nonpartisan, nonprofit interstate compact that now includes 16 member states, including Delaware, and supports policymakers and education leaders in addressing the most pressing challenges in public education; and WHEREAS, the mission of SREB is to help states improve education from early childhood through postsecondary pathways and into the workforce, with a focus on equity, innovation, and practical solutions backed by research and experience; and WHEREAS, SREB provides invaluable services to Delaware and its fellow member states by conducting independent research and analysis, facilitating cross-state collaboration, and offering technical assistance and professional development to advance educational excellence; and WHEREAS, SREB has been instrumental in supporting efforts to strengthen literacy and math instruction, improve career and technical education, increase college and career readiness, and close achievement and opportunity gaps across the region; and WHEREAS, the Delaware General Assembly was honored to welcome representatives of SREB to Legislative Hall on March 27, 2025, in recognition of their vital work and partnership with the State of Delaware; and WHEREAS, Dr. Stephen Pruitt, President of the Southern Regional Education Board, has provided steady and visionary leadership to the organization, helping states navigate the evolving educational landscape and remain focused on student-centered progress. NOW, THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 152nd General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the General Assembly hereby recognizes and expresses its deep appreciation to the Southern Regional Education Board for visiting the Delaware General Assembly on March 27, 2025. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the General Assembly commends SREB for its decades of service to Delaware and other member states in the southern region and for its steadfast commitment to advancing high-quality, equitable education. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the General Assembly acknowledges and thanks Dr. Stephen Pruitt for his leadership of SREB and his continued efforts to support states and students through innovation and collaboration.
