127- Section 1. Subsection (12) is added to section 30.49, 78

131-effectuate, fulfil, and prese rve the independence of sheriffs as 82
132-specified in s. 30.53, a sheriff may transfer funds between the 83

325- (1) For the purposes of this section, the t erm: 186
326- (a) "Commission" means the Criminal Justice Standards and 187
327-Training Commission within the Department of Law Enforcement. 188
328- (b) "Employing agency" has the same meaning as provided in 189

332- (d) "Newly employed officer" means a person who gains or 193

337- (e) "Program" means the Florida Law Enforcement 198
338-Recruitment Bonus Payment Program. 199
339- (2) There is created within the department the Florida Law 200
340-Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Payment Progr am, to aid in the 201
341-recruitment of law enforcement officers within the state. The 202
342-purpose of the program is to administer one -time bonus payments 203
343-of up to $5,000 to each newly employed officer within the state. 204
344-Bonus payments provided to eligible newly emplo yed officers are 205
345-contingent upon legislative appropriations and shall be prorated 206
346-subject to the amount appropriated for the program. 207
347- (3) Each bonus payment shall be adjusted to include 7.65 208
348-percent for the officer's share of Federal Insurance 209
349-Contribution Act tax on the payment. 210
