16	16		States, urging the President and Congress to take 3
17	17		action to address the atrocities and genocide in Cuba. 4

19	19		WHEREAS, Cuba has been under a communist dictatorship for 6
20	20		62 years, and 7
21	21		WHEREAS, the Cuban government continues to repress all 8
22	22		peaceful attempts by the Cuban people to bring democratic change 9
23	23		to the island by denying universally recognized liberties, and 10
24	24		WHEREAS, the Cuban government arbitrarily searched homes 11
25	25		and arrested and killed its citizens, torturing and silencing 12
26	26		the will of its people, and 13
27	27		WHEREAS, thousands of Cubans have taken to the streets 14
28	28		across the country in momentous demonstrations prote sting 15
29	29		longstanding restrictions on rights, and 16
30	30		WHEREAS, the Cuban government has partaken in human 17
31	31		trafficking, child labor, indoctrination, harboring terrorists, 18
32	32		and terrorist activities, and 19
33	33		WHEREAS, the Cuban government has diplomatic relations with 20
34	34		authoritarian regimes, such as Venezuela, China, Russia, and 21
35	35		Nicaragua, and is using their support to continue to suppress 22
36	36		the Cuban people, and 23
37	37		WHEREAS, the Cuban regime is using torture, violence, and 24
38	38		intimidation, and is withholding food, water, medicin e, 25

58	58		urged to take action to address the atrocities and genocide in 33
59	59		Cuba and to enact Article 54 of the United Nations Charter to 34
60	60		reconvene the Security Council for an emergency meeting on the 35
61	61		issue. 36
62	62		BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be 37
63	63		dispatched to the President of the United States, to the 38
64	64		President of the United States Senate, to the Speaker of the 39
65	65		United States House of Representatives, and to each member of 40
66	66		the Florida delegation to the United States Congress. 41
