2626 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 13

2828 Section 1. Section 381.991, Florida Statutes, is created 15

3030 381.991 Study of using alter native therapies in the 17
3131 treatment of mental health and other medical conditions. — 18
3232 (1)(a) The Department of Health, in collaboration with the 19
3333 Board of Medicine, shall conduct a study to evaluate the 20
3434 therapeutic efficacy of alternative therapies, including the use 21
3535 of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), psilocybin, and 22
3636 ketamine, in treating mental health and other medical 23
3737 conditions, including: 24
3838 1. Depression. 25

5656 (b) In conducting its study, the Department of Health 31

6060 conditions listed in paragraph (a). 35
6161 2. Compare the effi cacy of using alternative therapies 36
6262 with the efficacy of treatments currently used for the mental 37
6363 health and other medical conditions listed in paragraph (a). 38
6464 (2) By September 1, 2023, the Department of Health shall 39
6565 submit a written report to the Governor, the President of the 40
6666 Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives which 41
6767 contains its findings and recommendations for future legislative 42
6868 action and implementation. 43
6969 (3) This section expires September 30, 2023. 44
7070 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022. 45
