17	17		Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to develop a Down 4
18	18		Syndrome Awareness license plate; providing for 5
19	19		distribution and use of fees collected from the sale 6
20	20		of the plate; providing an effective date. 7

22	22		Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9

24	24		Section 1. Subsection (119) is added to sect ion 320.08058, 11
25	25		Florida Statutes, to read: 12
26	26		320.08058 Specialty license plates. — 13
27	27		(119) DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS LICENSE PLATES. — 14
28	28		(a) The department shall develop a Down Syndrome Awareness 15
29	29		license plate as provided in this section and s. 320.08053. The 16
30	30		plate must bear the colors and design approved by the 17
31	31		department. The word "Florida" must appear at the top of the 18
32	32		plate, and the words "Down Syndrome Awareness" must appear at 19
33	33		the bottom of the plate. 20
34	34		(b) The annual use fees from the sale of the plate sh all 21
35	35		be distributed to Our City Beautiful, Inc., a Florida nonprofit 22
36	36		corporation. Up to 10 percent of the fees may be used for 23
37	37		administrative costs and marketing of the plate. Of the 24

51	51		1. Fifty percent shall be used to build and maintain 26
52	52		HOLLAND, an affordable housing project for independent living 27
53		-	for persons with Down Syndrome or other intellectual disability. 28
54		-	2. Fifteen percent shall be dedicated to Our City 29
55		-	Beautiful World Changer scholarships for Florida residents 18 30
56		-	years of age or older with Down Syndrome who wish to further 31
57		-	their education at postsecondary educational institutions 32
58		-	located in this state. 33
59		-	3. Thirty-five percent shall be used for grants to other 34
60		-	nonprofit organizations within this state to support housing, 35
61		-	educational scholarships, and employment assistance programs for 36
62		-	persons with Down Syndrome or other intellectual disability. 37
63		-	Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2022. 38
