16	16		St. Lucie County; amending ch. 2001 -326, Laws of 3
17	17		Florida, as amended; providing for the appointment of 4
18	18		an additional member to the board of trustees; 5

21	21		Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

23	23		Section 1. Section 1 of section 3 of chapter 2001 -326, 10
24	24		Laws of Florida, as amended by chapter 2006 -336, Laws of 11
25	25		Florida, is amended to read: 12
26	26		Section 1. There is hereby created a Board of Trustees to 13
27	27		be known as "Board of Trustees, Rupert J. Smith Law Library of 14
28	28		Saint Lucie County," which said board shall consist of six five 15
29	29		members; the membership of the said board shall consist of a 16
30	30		Circuit Judge who is a resident of Saint Lucie County, to be 17
31	31		designated by the Chief Judge of the Nineteenth Judicial 18
32	32		Circuit, one member of the Board of County Commissioners of 19
33	33		Saint Lucie County to be chosen by the said Board of Count y 20
34	34		Commissioners biennially, two active practicing attorneys who 21
35	35		reside in the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Saint Lucie County, 22
36	36		one to be appointed by the president of the Saint Lucie County 23
37	37		Bar Association and one to be appointed by the president of the 24
38	38		Port Saint Lucie Bar Association , and two a lay members, one 25

51	51		member to be appointed by the president of the Friends of Saint 26
52	52		Lucie County Library Association, Inc. , and one to be appointed 27
53	53		by the Board of Trustees, Rupert J. Smith Law Library of Saint 28
54	54		Lucie County. At the time this act takes effect, two attorneys 29
55	55		shall be appointed for a term of 1 year, beginning on the first 30
56	56		Tuesday after the first Monday in January of each year. The 31
57	57		Board of Trustees shall have full power and authority to 32
58	58		establish, operate, and maintain one or more law library 33
59	59		facilities within Saint Lucie County at such place or places as 34
60	60		may, from time to time, be designated by said Board of Trustees; 35
61	61		to prescribe rules and regulations as to its own functions and 36
62	62		organization; and to presc ribe and enforce rules and regulations 37
63	63		as to the use, maintenance, and operation of said law library. 38
64	64		Said Board of Trustees shall purchase books, furniture, 39
65	65		equipment, and supplies either for cash or upon retained title 40
66	66		or other contracts that shall be pa yable solely out of said law 41
67	67		library fund and not otherwise. 42
68	68		Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. 43
