3232 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 19

3434 Section 1. Section 381.9312, Florida Statutes, is created 21
3535 to read: 22
3636 381.9312 Uterine fibroid research database; education and 23
3737 public awareness.— 24
3838 (1) DEFINITIONS.—As used in this section, the term: 25

5151 (a) "Department" means the Department of Health. 26
5252 (b) "Health care provider" means a physician or physician 27
5353 assistant licensed und er chapter 458 or chapter 459 or an 28
5454 advanced practice registered nurse licensed under chapter 464. 29
5555 (c) "Uterine fibroid" means a noncancerous growth of the 30
5656 uterus that often appears during a woman's childbearing years. 31
5757 (2) UTERINE FIBROID RESEARCH DATA BASE.— 32
5858 (a) The department shall develop and maintain an 33
5959 electronic database consisting of information related to uterine 34
6060 fibroids. The purpose of the database is to encourage research 35
6161 relating to the diagnosis and treatment of uterine fibroids and 36
6262 to ensure that women are provided with the relevant information 37
6363 and health care necessary to prevent and treat uterine fibroids. 38
6464 The database must include, but need not be limited to, all of 39
6565 the following information: 40
6666 1. Incidence and prevalence of women diagn osed with 41
6767 uterine fibroids in the state. 42
6868 2. Demographic attributes of women diagnosed with uterine 43
6969 fibroids in the state. 44
7070 3. Treatments and procedures for uterine fibroids used by 45
7171 health care providers in the state. 46
7272 (b) A health care provider who dia gnoses or treats a woman 47
7373 with uterine fibroids shall submit information relating to such 48
7474 diagnosis or treatment to the department in a form and manner 49
7575 prescribed by department rule for inclusion in the database. 50

8888 Such information may be submitted along with any reports or 51
8989 other information that the health care provider is required to 52
9090 submit to the department pursuant to state law. 53
9191 (c) The database may not include any personal identifying 54
9292 information of women diagnosed with or treated for uterine 55
9393 fibroids. 56
9494 (3) UTERINE FIBROID EDUCATION OUTREACH AND PUBLIC 57
9595 AWARENESS.—The department shall develop and include information 58
9696 related to uterine fibroids in its women's health care 59
9797 educational materials currently made available to the public. 60
9898 The information must in clude, but need not be limited to, the 61
9999 following: 62
100100 (a) Possible risk factors for developing uterine fibroids. 63
101101 (b) Range of available treatment options that are 64
102102 considered alternatives to hysterectomy. 65
103103 Section 2. For the 2022-2023 fiscal year, the su ms of 66
104104 $121,852 in recurring funds from the General Revenue Fund and 67
105105 $681,048 in nonrecurring funds from the General Revenue Fund are 68
106106 appropriated to the Department of Health and one full -time 69
107107 equivalent position with associated salary rate of 55,212 is 70
108108 authorized for the purpose of implementing this act. 71
109109 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022. 72
