A bill to be entitled 1 
An act relating to fees; amending s. 471.011, F.S.; 2 
authorizing the Board of Professional Engineers to 3 
establish fees relating to professional structural 4 
engineer licensing; amending s. 471.015, F.S.; 5 
requiring applicants to pay a specified fee in order 6 
to be eligible to receive a professional structural 7 
engineer license; providing a contingent effective 8 
date. 9

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the St ate of Florida: 11 
 12 
 Section 1.  Subsections (1) and (6) of section 471.011, 13 
Florida Statutes, are amended to read: 14 
 471.011  Fees.— 15 
 (1)  The board by rule may establish fees to be paid for 16 
applications, examination, reexamination, licensing and renewal, 17 
inactive status application and reactivation of inactive 18 
licenses, and recordmaking and recordkeeping. The board may also 19 
establish by rule a delinquency fee. The board shall establish 20 
fees that are adequate to ensure the continued operation of the 21 
board. Fees shall be based on department estimates of the 22 
revenue required to implement this chapter and the provisions of 23 
law with respect to the regulation of engineers and professional 24 
structural engineers . 25

 (6)  The fee for a temporary registration or certific ate to 26 
practice engineering or professional structural engineering 27 
shall not exceed $25 for an individual or $50 for a business 28 
firm. 29 
 Section 2.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (3) of section 30 
471.015, Florida Statutes, as amended by HB 375, 2022 Regular 31 
Session, is amended to read: 32 
 471.015  Licensure.— 33 
 (3)(a)  The management corporation shall issue a 34 
professional structural engineer license to any applicant whom 35 
the board certifies as qualified to practice professional 36 
structural engineering and who meets all of the following 37 
requirements: 38 
 1.  Is licensed under this chapter as an engineer or is 39 
qualified for licensure as an engineer. 40 
 2.  Submits an application in the format prescribed by the 41 
board. 42 
 3.  Provides satisfactory evidence of good moral charac ter, 43 
as defined by the board. 44 
 4.  Provides a record of 4 years of active structural 45 
engineering experience, as defined by the board, under the 46 
supervision of a licensed professional engineer. 47 
 5.  Has successfully passed the 16 -hour National Council of 48 
Examiners for Engineering and Surveying Structural Engineering 49 
examination. 50

 6.  Pays a fee established by the board under s. 471.011. 51 
 Section 3.  This act shall take effect on the same date 52 
that HB 375 or similar legislation takes effect , if such 53 
legislation is adopted in the same legislative session or an 54 
extension thereof and becomes a law. 55
