2424 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11

2626 Section 1. Section 790.0656, Florida Statutes, is created 13
2727 to read: 14
2828 790.0656 Safe storage of firearms by licensed importers, 15
2929 manufacturers, and dealers. — 16
3030 (1) A licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or 17
3131 licensed dealer who stores or leaves, on a business premises 18
3232 under its control a firearm shall, when the premises is not open 19
3333 for business, secure each firearm on the premises using one of 20
3434 the following methods: 21
3535 (a) Secure the firearm with a hardened steel rod or cable 22
3636 of at least 1/8 inch in diameter through the trigger guard of 23
3737 the firearm. The steel rod or cable shall be secured with a 24

5151 shall be protected or shielded from the use of a bolt cutter, 26
5252 and the rod or cable shall be anchored in a manner that prevents 27
5353 the removal of the firearm from the premises; 28
5454 (b) Store the firearm in a locked fireproof safe or vault 29
5555 in the licensee's business premises; or 30
5656 (c) Store the firearm in a hardene d, impact-resistant, 31
5757 locked cabinet. 32
5858 (2) A duly authorized agent or employee of the Department 33
5959 of Agriculture and Consumer Services may inspect in a lawful 34
6060 manner at all reasonable hours any business premises subject to 35
6161 the requirements of this section. 36
6262 (3) A violation of this section is a noncriminal 37
6363 violation, punishable as provided in s. 775.083. 38
6464 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2022. 39
